Next-gen OptiPlex Reimagines the Desktop Experience

Dell EMC Study, Dell EMC Career, Dell EMC Prep, Dell EMC Learning, Dell EMC

After 30 years, OptiPlex continues to be the trusted name in commercial desktops. We are passionate about delivering the world’s most secure and intelligent PCs on which our customers can rely. In fact, nine out of 10 OptiPlex customers say they believe OptiPlex outperforms competitors in ease of deployment, support experience and reliability.

We’re always striving to enhance and simplify the desktop experience. This year, we’ve captured customers’ feedback to transform this experience, making it easier than ever to purchase and manage our products. The new lineup is designed to reduce complexity, while offering new levels of built-in performance and intelligence.

OptiPlex form factors featuring Intel® 13th Gen processors will no longer be segmented by series or model numbers, meaning our customers will no longer see a 3, 5 or 7 series – just a single OptiPlex model. With a simple two-step process, customers can choose the right form factor, then the right features for the job. It’s that easy. We’re making management simple by offering one BIOS for the all-in-ones and one BIOS for the rest of the towers, saving valuable IT time.

Dell has unmatched security, with unique off-host BIOS verification that captures and stores the image if the BIOS is corrupt and Indicators of Attack, an early-alert feature that helps IT identify potential threats. SafeID helps protect against identity compromise, securely storing and processing advanced authentication credentials in a dedicated security chip. Our customers can have peace of mind from the moment they place an order with our Secured Component Verification, a feature that allows customers to verify the integrity of Dell commercial products to ensure key components arrive as they were ordered and built, creating additional assurance of a safe supply chain.

OptiPlex continues to invest in reliable product experiences, designed with quality-tested, sustainable components that are built to last. This year, we made Dell OptiPlex desktops with up to 59.6% post-consumer recycled plastics. Additionally, the chassis of select Dell OptiPlex desktops are made with a minimum of 10% recycled steel. We’re not only making your work better but our footprint smaller.

The newly designed 24-inch All-in-One provides best-in-class performance, audio and video in a streamlined, elegant design. It features up to Intel® Core™ i9 processors, 64GB DDR5 memory and a retractable FHD or 5MP IR camera with Express Sign-in and intelligent privacy. This new technology ensures users will look and sound their best while collaborating more securely than ever. All new ergonomic stand options and low blue light-certified touch and non-touch panels provide comfortable all-day usage.

The new OptiPlex Micro offers maximum productivity in an ultra-compact size. It features up to Intel® Core™ i9 processors and 64GB DDR5 memory. A great innovation this year is our single cable Type-C power delivery solution with the OptiPlex Micro (35W) configuration. Simply connect your Type-C cable from a Dell USB-C hub monitor to your Micro (35W) and get instant power, video and data with one single cable, for a clean and easy-to-set-up workspace.

For those who need a wider array of performance options or ports than Micro, but still desire a space-conscious design, we are refreshing the Small Form Factor with up to Intel® Core™ i9 processors and 128GB DDR5 memory.

And finally, we’ve built the new OptiPlex Tower for those who need the ultimate performance and expansion options with no compromise, featuring up to i9 125W processors running high-end NVIDIA® graphics cards and up to 128GB DDR5 memory.

We’re pleased to extend Intel vPro® platform capabilities across the new portfolio. Intel vPro® Essentials and Intel vPro® Enterprise deliver modern management capabilities and hardware-enhanced security, as well as modern standby that helps consume less energy. The new lineup also gets an intelligence boost with Dell Optimizer for AI-enhanced personalized productivity.

The new OptiPlex family offers curated hybrid work experiences, including number one worldwide displays and the best collaboration accessories for the job, plus custom mounts and stands, designed and tested as integrated product solutions with best-in-class experiences for our customers.

Some of our new offers include all-in-one stand options designed to match Dell displays for a seamless dual display setup, paired with the new Dell collaboration keyboard and mouse for optimal conferencing experiences. We currently offer Dell conferencing displays and Dell cameras that fully enable Windows Hello functions for increased productivity and security.

And this year, to enhance productivity even further, all our peripherals work seamlessly together with our peripheral and display manager powered by the intelligence of Dell Optimizer.

Be sure to join us this May to celebrate in person at this year’s Dell Technologies World in Las Vegas, where you can see the new OptiPlex family in-person.

What Goes Around, Comes Full Circle

The idea started with a photo on a tour of a partner’s recycling facility – a large pile of aluminum harvested from old hard disk drives sat unused. Combine this image with an engineer’s passion to source sustainable materials and we started to think how can we close the loop and re-use this material in our products?

Read More: DES-9131: Dell EMC Infrastructure Security Specialist

With our focus on accelerating circular design, rethinking a closed-loop approach for the aluminum in our products was right in our wheelhouse. We also have a strong track record of partnering with others in the industry to drive innovative processes and share best practices. Our existing partnerships with Reconext and Seagate Technology, were a great place to start, having worked with them to launch a recycled rare-earth magnet program in 2019. This program has since shipped over 19,000 pounds of recovered magnets for recycling which are used not only in new Dell products but even competitor products, too. Because the idea is to scale up magnet recovery for the industry, not just for our own benefit!

The process we partnered on takes aluminum from old drives returned via our recycling programs to create a base plate for new hard disk drives. Why? Because the base plate is one of the largest aluminum-containing components in a hard disk drive, allowing us to use this recycled material in a big way.

For the initial pilot, we are using these new drives in select OptiPlex 7090 Small Form Factor and Mini Towers. OptiPlex was the perfect choice for this new closed-loop material as it was our very first – and the industry’s first – computer to ‘close the loop’ on plastics from recycled electronics in 2014. Again, this makes the OptiPlex 7090 Tower and 7090 Small Form Factor the world’s first PCs available with closed-loop recycled aluminum in the hard drive (20% by weight).¹ Creating closed-loop recycled plastic was a lift-off moment for Dell. To date, we created over 100 million pounds of recycled plastic parts and used closed-loop plastic on more than 125 different product lines. And we aren’t just interested in plastic, we’ve also recovered more than 2.1 billion pounds of e-waste for responsible recycling or reuse in our products.

What this means is that these new OptiPlex products contain both plastics and metals from recycled technology, while providing the same durability, reliability, and security that our customers expect. A second shipment of recycled aluminum is now on its way into the supply chain, and we are investigating opportunities to scale usage to additional drives and beyond.

The new OptiPlex products and closed-loop aluminum are the latest examples of Dell Technologies’ commitment to driving the circular economy and protect the planet. To get to that 2030 moonshot goal, we need to leave no stone unturned, no recycled or renewable material not explored.
